You are looking at an id'd photograph of IDA WORKMAN. This photo measures about 4x6 and is in nice shape with some dirty spots (see scans).
Not much is known about IDA WORKMAN except that the photo was found in DAUPHIN CO., PA. I purchased her photo along with several others with the last names: WANBERG (Dauphin Co.), BEN THURMAN (Adrian, MI.), ZINA BAKER (Salem, OH.), EMMA & MR. BROWN (prob. LYKENS VALLEY, PA.), JENNIE STRAW, (Dauphin Co.), IDA GRIFFE (Springfield, OH.), MARY HOUSER (Northumberland Co. Pa.). LUCY & MAUD BRITTON, OH. FRED & CHARLES BOOTH, (brothers), NEBRASKA.
Note: Lucy & Maud are siblings, Maud married Mr. Shauff/Schauff and Lucy married EARL PATTERSON
It is not known at this point if they are all related somehow but I thought I would list the names just in case a family member recognizes them.
I am researching and listing each photo separately.
I was not able to make any definite identifications regarding IDA WORKMAN but I did have one guess that may or may not be accurate:
IDA WORKMAN, born 1874, FAYETTE CO., PA. married SAMUEL BA(Y)SINGER and had sons SAMUEL, JOHN, & ALBERT and daughters RUTH, MARGARET, DELLA, FLORENCE, MINNIE, & SARAH.
SAMUEL BASINGER died and she married MILES RICHTER and had a son HARRY EARL in 1918.
The above information is just a guess based on how old I thought she looked in the photo and the IDA WORKMAN'S listed in the census records that would match up.
I tried to find an IDA WORKMAN in DAUPHIN CO., PA., however, there were none.
In 1880 census records there were only 2 Pennsylvania IDA WORKMAN'S and they were:
IDA WORKMAN d/o WILLIAM & MARY, South Strabane, Washington Co., Pa., born 1860. (I don't think this is her).
IDA WORKMAN d/o WILLIAM & SARAH A., Bullskin, FAYETTE, PA., born 1874, PA. (this appears to be the same IDA I listed above who married BASINGER & RICHTER.
In 1900 PA. census records, there is only 1 IDA WORKMAN and she is the same one listed above born Nov. 1859, S. Washington, Washington, Pa. d/o WILLIAM & MARY.
In 1910 PA. census records, there is again only one IDA WORKMAN and she is the same one born in 1860, and she is single and still living with her widowed mother.
1920 PA. census records, there is again only one IDA WORKMAN and she is the same one born in 1860, she is single and living with her sister ANNIE WORKMAN (60).
1930 PA. census records, the same IDA WORKMAN, born 1860, is living alone in WASHINGTON CO., PA.
So if indeed this photo was from PA., there were only 2 IDA WORKMANS. One IDA remained single and one married.
If this is the IDA WORKMAN that married SAMUEL BAYSINGER, here is some additional information on them:
MORE ON IDA WORKMAN born June 15, 1874, PA.
WILLIAM WORKMAN, born Sept. 10, 1852 and died 1934, FAYETTE CO., PA., buried in MOUNT OLIVE CEMETERY, CONNELLSVILLE, PA. (see findagrave.com)
SARAH ANN LEICHLITER WORKMAN, born May 17, 1857, FAYETTE CO., PA. and died 1936, FAYETTE CO., PA., buried MOUNT OLIVE CEMETERY, CONNELLSVILLE, PA. (see findagrave.com).
MILES RICHTER (Ida's 2nd husband) has a great memorial page on findagrave.com. His obit from 1947 is included.
I was not able to find IDA on findagrave.com.
1880 BULLSKIN, FAYETTE CO., PA. CENSUS:
William Workman (27), Sarah A. (22), IDA WORKMAN (6), Maggie (4) and David L. (1).
1910 Bullskin, Fayette Co., Pa. Census:
Samuel Basinger (42), Ida (35), Florence (16), Minnie (14), John (13), Sarah (11), Albert (9), Ruth (7), Margaret (1.5) and James Basinger (33), brother.
1920 Bullskin, Fayette Co., Pa. Census: remarried
Miles Richter (49), Ida (46), Albert Richter (18), Ruth Richter (16), Margret Richter (12), Samuel Richter (10) & Harry Earl Richter (2).
***HARRY EARL RICHTER is the only child between MILES RICHTER AND IDA . Not sure why all of the children go by the last name RICHTER, I suppose MILES could have adopted them since SAMUEL is deceased.
Upon looking at the 1920 census record, I see that MILES'S father and siblings are living very close to MILES & IDA. MILES lives practically next door to his father HENRY RICHTER, age 79, widowed and siblings SCOTT (31), GRACE (20), MARTHA (20) & HENRY (15) along with step children EDWARD COLLINGS (31), BESSIE (30) and step granddaughter SARAH (9).
1930 Connellsville, Fayette Co., pa. Census:
**This census is recorded oddly. The head of household is listed as RICHTER, MILES IDA but I'm guessing that it is suppose to mean IDA WIFE OF MILES or something like that.
RICHTER, MILES IDA, (64), married, SAMUEL BAYSINGER (20), son, HARRY RICHTER (12), son.
