You are looking at an identified photograph of JOHN BENEDICT, taken MIDDLEBURY, VT.

The corners of the photo are ruff and it's a bit dirty but it does not affect the image (see scans)

If you look in the upper right hand corner of the photo, you will see the words JOHN BENEDICT written, I have included a close up scan of that area.

I did some research on this photo and this is what I've come up with:

JOHN OLASCOE BENEDICT was born April 3, 1857 and he died Sept. 29, 1929, ADDISON CO., VT.

JOHN BENEDICT was the son of JULIUS & ADELIA COLUMBIA MURRAY BENEDICT. JULIUS was born Nov. 3, 1821, VT., and he died Feb. 3, 1899, MIDDLEBURY, VT. ADELIA COLUMBIA MURRAY BENEDICT was born Jan. 7, 1828, SUDBURY, VT. and she died Aug. 11, 1902, MIDDLEBURY, VT.

Both are buried in FAIR CEMETERY, CORNWALL CO., VT.

JOHN O. BENEDICT was married twice, first to ALICE E. EASTON and second to S. EDNA COMSTOCK.

JOHN & ALICE married Oct. 1877, VT. and they had 5 children, I was only able to verify 3 of them, CLARENCE C. BENEDICT, 1879, VT., ETHEL A., 1883, VT., ALICE E., 1889, VT.

ALICE ELIZABETH EATON BENEDICT was born April 4, 1859, PUTNAM CO., NY. and she died April 7, 1889, ADDISON CO., VT. It looks like her death may have been from complications of childbirth since ALICE E. was born Feb. 1889 and ALICE E. (the mother) died APRIL 1889.

JOHN O. BENEDICT married his second wife (EDNA COMSTOCK) in 1891, and I do not believe that they had children together.

In 1900 CORNWALL, ADDISON CO., VT. census records, JOHN & EDNA are married and they are raising 3 of his children: CLARENCE C., ETHEL A., & ALICE E.

In 1910, JOHN & EDNA have moved to MORRISTOWN, LAMOILLE, VT. and no children are present.

In 1920 they have moved to BRISTOL, ADDISON, VT. and it's only the two of them.

JOHN O. BENEDICT died Sept. 29, 1929, 72 yrs., 5 mo., 26 days old.
EDNA S. COMSTOCK BENEDICT was born Oct. 1867 and she died 1927

JOHN BENEDICT & both of his wives are buried in FAIR CEMETERY, CORNWALL, ADDISON CO., VT.

**NOTE: If you want to see headstones and burial information on these families go to findagrave.com.

JULIUS B. BENEDICT (John's father) & both of his wives are buried in WEST CEMETERY, MIDDLEBURY, ADDISON CO., VT., again go to findagrave.com to see their information.

MORE ON JOHN'S brothers:

VIRGIL M. BENEDICT was born Nov. 3, 1862, VT. and he married STELLA M. WILLIAMS in OCT. 1899, they had 2 children BEATRICE W., 1901, VT., and LUCILE A., 1905, VT.,

STELLA M. was born Dec. 1873.

VIRGIL & family lived in NEW HAVEN, ADDISON CO., VT. in 1900, 1910, &1920, I was unable to find either of them in the 1930 census records.

RANSOM SMITH BENEDICT was born OCTOBER 3, 1869, VT. and he died July 23, 1956. RANSOM married LORA M. BICKNELL on Nov. 19, 1900. LORA was born August 23, 1868 and died April 7, 1947.

RANSOM & LORA BENEDICT had 2 children:

RAYMOND H. BENEDICT, born abt. Nov. 11, 1891, VT.
RUTH S., born abt. Dec. 1895, VT.

NOTES ON RAYMOND H. BENEDICT:

On June 5, 1917, RAYMOND H. (above) is living in OKLAHOMA and he's single.
In 1920 census records I believe that RAYMOND is living with a cousin (ESTHER S. STAFFORD) and her husband in N.H.
In 1930 WWII records I believe he's now living in MONTREAL, QUEBEC. and his occupation was U.S. COLLECTOR OF CUSTOMS, St. Albans, Franklin, VT. but he was actually living in MONTREAL at the time he filled out his WWII draft registration papers.

I found RAYMOND in the 1938 VERMONT CITY DIRECTORY and he is listed as such:

BENEDICT, RAYMOND H. (LOLA B.), customs inspector, U.S. Customs Service.

In 1910 & 1920 RANSOM & family lived in MIDDLEBURY, VT., In 1930, the children are gone and they have moved to PROCTOR, RUTLAND, VT.

I have no additional information on these families
