You are looking at an identified photograph of Miss Mary A. Rivers, taken in LA CONNER, SKIGIT CO., WASHINGTON.
This photo measures about 5x7 and is in very nice, clean condition. There are a couple of little imperfections such as a couple of tiny scratch marks by her head but they are very hard to notice. The back of the photograph reads as such: "MISS MARY A. RIVERS".
I have done a little research on little Miss Rivers and this is what I've come up with.
Mary, sometimes referred to as Marie, Rivers was born in November of 1884, Washington.
Mary's parents were:
Adolph Rivers, born Novemer 25, 1837, CANADA & Mary Goin, born May 1859, MONTANA
All census records that I have seen on the family describe them as being NATIVE AMERICAN.
Adolph & Mary married in 1871 and had the following children:
Delmore (son), born August 1875, WA.
Charles, born Nov. 1881, WA.
Mary (pictured), born Nov. 1884, WA.
Henry, born June 1887, WA.
Adolph, Jr., born March 29, 1889, WA.
Clara, born Feb. 1892, WA.
Hermine (daughter), born Jan. 1899, WA.
There was possibly a daughter Rilla, born Nov. 1877, that may have died young.
Mary "Maria" Goin, died Jan. 13, 1906, St. Luke's Hospital, Spokane, WA. I am uncertain when Adolph died.
Mary's parents were: Peter Goin & Felicity Finley.
Adolph's parents were: Peter Rivers & Margaret LaCource, both born in Canada. Both parents are buried in Becancour Cemetery, Three Rivers, CANADA.
April 13, 1887 census records indicate that Mary and her family were living in SPOKANE, WASHINGTON as follows:
A. Rivers, 50, Canada, farmer
Mary Rivers, 28, Montana
Emma Rivers, 14, Montana
L. Rivers, 12 (F), WA.
A Rivers, 7 (F), WA.
Charlie Rivers, 5, WA.
Mary Rivers (pictured), 2, WA.
1892 census records are extremely hard to make out. I found Adolph & Mary and it looks like 7 children: Delmar, Frank, Charlie, MARY, Henry, Adolph & Clara. They are living in STEVENS CO., WASHINGTON.
1900 MEYERS FALLS, STEVENS CO., WASHINTON census records are as such:
Adolph Rivers, 62
Mary Rivers, wife, 41
Delmore, 24 (son), Aug. 1875, married 3 years
Charles, 18, Nov. 1881, single
MARY, 15 (pictured), Nov. 1884, single
Henry, 12, June 1887
Adolph, 11, March 1889
Clara, 8, Feb. 1892
Hermine, 1 (daughter), Jan. 1899
GEORGE GENDRON (son-in-law), no age given
FRANK GENDRON, 1, (grandson), July 1898, WA.
**It is not clear to me who George Gendron's wife is.
In 1910 I find MARY living with her sister DELIME R. GENDRON & her husband JUCTAR G. GENDRON (I'm presuming that he is GEORGE GENDRON from the 1900 census). That family consists of: Juctar G., 38, CANADA., Delime R., 34, WA., Frank, 11, Clarence, 9, Rosie, 5, Ames 3 & then MARY RIVERS (pictured), 24, WHO IS WORKING AS A DOMESTIC FOR A PRIVATE FAMILY. Also note that the name DELIME is probably not correct but that is what they subscribed it as and I could not make it out so I left it as that.
I am not able to find MARY as "MARY RIVERS" in the 1920 WASHINGTON census records so it's presumed she married or she could have passed.
Currently I have no additional information on Mary.
