This photograph is in very nice shape, there is corner wear and some dirty spots but the image is very clear (see scans). The photo measures abou 5x7 and it is identified on the back as "VERN O. DAY son of FERRIS resides at MEEKER, owns the OVINGTON DAY homestead near MEEKER."
I did a little research on this photograph and this is what I've come up with. VERNE OVINGTON DAY, SR. was born DECEMBER 19, 1888, near MEEKER, OHIO and he died OCTOBER 13, 1957 in KENTON, OHIO. His funeral was OCTOBER 16, 1957.
VERNE, SR. married GRACE MASON on NOVEMBER 2, 1909, MEEKER, OHIO. VERNE, SR. married wife #2, LOLA MAE METZ, on JUNE 20, 1920, MONROE, MICHIGAN.
VERNE & LOLA had he following children: VERNE OVINGTON DAY, JR. (b:1927 OH.) & KHIVA MAE DAY (b:1930 OH.)
VERNE OVINGTON DAY'S parents were: FERRIS DAY (b:1866 OH.) & ANNA J. DEAL (b:1869 OH. - d:before 1920). VERNE SR. had the following siblings: MILDRED L. DAY, EMMA N. DAY, IVEN L. DAY & SAMUEL E. DAY.

VERNE OVINGTON DAY, 68, road and bridge contractor of Meeker died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday in Hardin Memorial Hospital in Kenton after a long illness. He suffered from a heart ailment. Born Dec 19, 1888, near Meeker, he was the son of Ferris Day and Anna Deal Day, the father a native of the Meeker Community and the mother of Harpster. June 26, 1920, he married Loa Mae Metz at Monroe, Michigan. At one time he was a school teacher. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Of the American Legion and Of LaRue Lodge 463 F. & A.M., and he was a 32nd degree Mason. Surviving are his widow; one son, Verne O. Day Jr. of Fairborn; two grandchildren, Elaine and Allen Day, and two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Bunting and Mrs Nancy Cripps, both of Toledo. A daughter, Khiva Mae, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Day residence. The Rev. James L. Elzroth will officiate. Burial will be in the Meeker Cemetery. The body was brought to the Lucas Funeral Home of Morral then was removed to the family residence where friends may call after 7 tonight.
