You are looking at a photo id'd as Abby Palm, taken Reading, Pa. circa 1891.
I have had this photo for about a year and I've spent countless hours trying to figure out just who Abby Palm was and although I can't be 100% sure, I have a good idea who I believe she is and I'm hoping that a relative will see her photo and be able to identify her.
I believe that Abby Palm was actually May Lucretia Abbalonia "Abbie" Palm, who married Emerson Gable Musser on February 27, 1904.
Because of her name it's been very hard to find information on her but I have found her using the following variations of her name:
May L.A. Musser (1930 census) she a widow
May L. A. Musser (1920 census)*
May L.A. Musser (1910 census)
Abbie Lucretia Musser (WW1 Reg.)
M. L. Abbie Musser (1927 reading directory)
M. L. Abbie Musser (1932 Reading directory) widow
lives at 301 Chestnut St.
1947 Reading, Pa. City Directory
Abbie P. Musser (widow Emerson), h829 N. 2nd St.
1958 1829 Perk Ave., Reading, Pa. (same)
1959 1829 Perk Ave., Reading, Pa. (everything the same except she is listed as Abbie P. Musser).
*If you are looking for them in the 1920 census records, they have them listed as MAUSER & they have EMERSON listed as AMORON G. MAUSER and she is listed as MAY L A MAUSER/MUSSER/MAUSSER. I have submitted the changes so that they will be easier to find in the future. One additional note is that all of the children in this census: HARRY, MISSOURI, FLORANCE, THELMA & EMERSON were listed with the correct spelling of MUSSER.
From this point on I will refer to May Lucretia Abbalonia Palm Musser as Abbie.
I believe that Abbie's parents were John J. & Mary Ann Palm who lived in Reading, Pa. in 1900.
According to the 1900 census, John Palm was born January 1848, PA., Mary A. (wife) was born July 1854, PA. (they married 1874), Mary indicates that she has given birth to 11 children but only 9 are living. Those living with them in 1900 were:
May aka Abbie, Virginia, Missouri, Elmer, Euphemia, Victoria & Spencer.
The 2 children missing from the 1900 census are 2 daughters with names I can not make out in the 1880 census records, for Brecknock, Lancaster, Pa. You can find it by looking up John L. Palm or Mary Ann Palm. The girls are 5 & 3 in this census.
If I had to make a guess I would say that the 5 year old could be Louisa D. A. & the 3 year old looks like Coeurdeleon M.
There is one other Palm listed on the 1900 census just above John & Mary Ann Palm and it is the Daniel & Nancy Palm family with a son Isaac still living at home.
Some additional notes & finding on these families:
According to the 1850 Breaknock, Lancaster Co., Pa. census records, DANIEL & NANCY PALM are grandparents of ABBIE PALM.
According to PA. Church & Town Records, 1708-1985, DANIEL PALM was born Sept. 20, 1818 & he died APRIL 1903 and was buried APRIL 27, 1903, SALEM LUTHERN CHURCH, REAMSTOWN, LANCASTER, PA.
JOHN Z. PALM died in 1932 and is buried in CHARLES EVANS CEMETERY, READING, BERKS CO., PA. (Findagrave.com #95307536)
MARY ANN PALM died in 1933 and is buried with her husband (findagrave.com #95307558)
